Product and Technology
Many electronic and optical technologies - including OLEDs - are multi-layer thin-film structures whose exact composition and thickness determine functionality. The LVD™ process uses a tunable infrared laser to vaporize polymers or organic molecules from a solid target; the vapor is condensed on a substrate where the OLEDs are built up. LVD™ is based on solid-state laser technology and on standard vacuum deposition techniques already in use. LVD™ avoids the material waste in existing processes by depositing a much larger fraction of the vapor onto the substrate and by being much less dependent on critical solvent technologies. The products are:
- LVD™ subsystems: LVD1000 (R&D), LVD2000 (Pilot), LVD5000 (OEM Production
- LVD™ consumables: Recyclable Polymer Target Cartridge (RPTC)
