Company History
Vanderbilt University is the birthplace of the LVD™ process, and some principals in AppliFlex LLC have been involved with LVD™ for almost a decade. Essential ideas about the unique opportunities for laser processing by resonant infrared laser excitation were developed at that time. Laser processing of organic materials began in 2001, through collaborations with the Naval Research Laboratory, which continues to collaborate on experiments in which functionalized nanoparticles on sensor substrates. AppliFlex continues to offer research sponsorship to the Vanderbilt University to further develop LVD™.
